Ambulance Association History

The Patton Area Ambulance Association was incorporated as a Pennsylvania non-profit corporation in 1985.  The ambulance was initially owned and operated as a service of the Patton Volunteer Fire Company.  Due to new state laws regulating the operation and staffing an ambulance service, the fire company decided it could better serve the community focusing on fire and rescue and have the ambulance separate into its own organization.  Many of the fireman who were active in the ambulance helped organize the new ambulance association along with community member not affiliated with the fire company.  The Patton Area Ambulance Association was formed and the service was initially located at the same fire hall where it always operated from.  Over the next five years the association purchased and renovated a building at 496 Railroad Ave., just off of Rt. 36 in Patton Borough.  Most of the labor for renovations was provided by the ambulance crew members and their families in their spare time in the evenings and weekends.

The service has two fully licensed  Advanced Life Support Ambulance which respond to approximately 900 medical emergency calls a year in the Patton area with its staff of paramedics and EMTs.  Medic 671 is a 2006 Horton Type III modular ambulance on a Chevrolet C4500 chassis.  Medic 672 is a 1993 Horton Type III mini-modular ambulance.
